It was an exciting and fruitful trip to Dubai from 18th to 21st March, 2018. Visiting Blockchain Innovatin & Investment (BII) Submit 2018, Dubai was the main purpose, as Dubai has successfully sets its sights on becoming the world’s first Blockchain-powered government.
Frankly, Blockchain is only part of the strategy. Smart city is the final destination. What’s more attractive to me is how Dubai had grown from a dessert into a world class city in such a short time.
Precise positioning, great branding, and the ability to deliver.
From day one of arrival, I had been keeping my eyes on all the beautifully crafted buildings within the city. Other than world’s largest shopping centre – the Dubai Mall, world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa, and world’s most luxurious hotel Burj Al-Arab Jumeirah, many of the buildings in the city are built with impressive architecture.
City Premiere Hotel Apartments was the place we stay for this trip.
The hotel comes with good services and nice view, from 32nd floor.
Scenic and wide area view where the far top left is the famous Burj Al-Arab building in Jumeirah area.
On the other side, is the route into the city.
One thing worth noting is the buildings’ facade. There are lots of uniquely designed buildings in the city of Dubai.
In architecture, the facade of a building is often the most important aspect from a design standpoint, as it sets the tone for the rest of the building.
A building similar to Sunway Resort in Malaysia, this is located in Jumeirah beach area with tram system linking up the places.
The Dubai Marina Mall.
Street Fest is going on.
Specially designed building to cater for F&B businesses overlooking the canal.
The Emaar building with a hole looking through beneath the building.
For the first night upon arrival, we visited Dubai International Financial Centre, near to Ritz Carlton Hotel where BII Summit was held.
A nice tower building with Maze like lighting at night.
Art is the important essence.
As we visited one of the newly met business friends in Dubai on 20th March, we found this leisure area for a city view. Good idea for co-working business with open space rooftop.
Bay Square is one of the office area.
Public space with green and water.
The interior design of Emirates Mall.
Metro Line, Dubai
In summary, paving my way towards building an iconic smart city, Dubai is a great place to study. Next trip? Zurich.
